Waking the Beast
Awakening Pride Book 1
By Lacey Thorn

The legend of the Paka Watu...
Ever since she was a young girl, Abby Lane can’t resist the allure of a cat shifter tribe forced to repress their beasts. On a trip to Africa, she discovers a coveted piece of information—the name the pride leader assumed when he left his home—and she traces his lineage to his descendant.
The sleeping lion...
Utah Pearce can't keep his gaze off the woman who slips into the bar every night. Though not his usual type, she brings out the possessive instinct in him, making him battle with himself as he tries to stay away.
Mine...
Abby’s research never prepared her for the reality in front of her. The beast is waking, and Utah is changing in ways both exciting and terrifying. He is possessive and dominant, and when he finally claims her, neither of them will ever be the same.

Excerpt:
“We need to talk, Abby.”
She nodded her head and put her hand up in a poor attempt to disguise a jaw-shattering yawn.
He twisted his neck, working the kinks out as best he could. “Maybe we need sleep first,” he admitted.
Her gaze fell to the bed then moved to the table as she began gathering up the trash. “About that…”
“About what?” he prompted when her voice tapered off.
She threw the trash away and turned to face him, picking up the towel she’d used on her hair and moving to cross the room. “The bed.”
He stepped in front of her, blocking her way. “What about the bed?”
“There’s only one.”
“The motel doesn’t have any double rooms.” At least as far as he was concerned. He hadn’t asked.
She narrowed her eyes at him as if preparing to call him a liar. He just crossed his arms over his chest and stared down at her.
“I’m not comfortable sleeping with you.” Her voice was soft, and his gut clenched at the lost look in her eyes, at the hunger he could see, as well as smell. She wanted him.
He moved in, running his hands up her arms to bury in her hair. Her eyes widened, but she didn’t do anything to stop him when he lowered his head and took her mouth with his. He pressed his lips to hers, licked over her bottom lip and nipped it softly with his teeth in an effort to get her to open up for him.
When she didn’t comply, he worked his mouth along her jaw to her earlobe. His tongue flicked the lobe before he nipped it with his teeth, and Abby gasped. He pulled back his gaze latching onto the parted curves before he dove and took, his tongue surging past her lips and teeth to find hers and wrapping around it.
She was up on her toes, reaching her arms toward his shoulders and all but climbing him as he bent to cup her ass and lift her into him. Her legs were around his waist, and he had her turned and pressed against the wall without pulling from the warmth of her kiss. She jerked back from his mouth, her head leaning back, exposing the slender column of her neck. He sank to it, grazing her flesh with his teeth and stroking his tongue out to taste her.
He ached. His cock. His teeth. His heart. And it was all for her.
“Tah.” His name was a gasp from her lips.
He groaned and moved his mouth back up toward hers.
“Tah.” She turned her head, denying him. Denying them both.
“Abby.” He moaned her name, flexing his hips and pressing into her where her legs wrapped around his waist. He felt her shudder, smelled the heat of her desire.
“Tah. Put me down please.”
His eyes snapped to hers, and he saw the denial there.
“You want me.” It was a statement, not a question, and she didn’t deny it.
“Not like this,” she said softly.
He slowly eased back from her, helping her as she unwrapped her legs and braced along the wall as if needing the support to find her own footing.
“Like this?” he questioned. He wanted to roar with rage at the loss of her. He needed her. Couldn’t she see how much he needed her?
“I may not be the most beautiful woman you’ve ever taken in your arms, but I’m most likely the smartest. And I know.”
It just pissed him off that she discounted herself that easily. She was the most beautiful, in all the ways that mattered. He’d just been too scared to admit it.
“You know what?” he asked when she shook her head and stepped away from the wall, tugging the robe closer together.
He thought she wouldn’t answer him as she scooped up the wet towel and stepped into the bathroom with it. But she faced him when she walked out. He could see the sadness in her eyes, and it nearly destroyed him.
“That I’m worth more than one quick night in a cheap motel,” she whispered, moving to the side of the bed and tugging back the covers. “I’ll give you the side closest to the door. The water’s hot if you want a shower.”

Bewitched for Pleasure
Pleasures Book 10
by Lacey Thorn

Brenna has always been a little on the shy side, or maybe she just feels overshadowed by her more outgoing best friend. Either way, enough is enough. This Halloween, she’s going to have some fun with one of the three hunks she’s had a crush on forever. The only question is—which one might be interested in her?

Scott, Travis and Kyle have been the best of friends most of their lives. None of them really planned on coming back to their hometown or finding little Brenna all grown up and sexy as hell. They all want her, and no one is willing to walk away.

A full moon, candlelight and the casting of a spell will make this Halloween one none of them will ever forget.

Excerpt:
Brenna stepped out of the shower a few hours later and dried off. Chel hadn’t stayed long after their spell casting on the patio. Chuck had texted—something naughty if Chel’s face had been any indication—and she’d taken off. So Brenna had finished the dregs of the wine and decided on a shower. She toweled dry her hair as best she could then left the long, blonde tresses to air dry the rest of the way.
She grabbed one of her short, silk robes from the hook on the back of her bathroom door and headed out to the living room. She might open another bottle of wine or just sit and see what movie she could find on the television tonight. She was just settling down when she thought she heard a sound on the patio.
“Fuck,” she mumbled, remembering she and Chel had forgotten to clean up the stuff out there. She might have a drunken raccoon or something if they’d gotten into the wine left in the cup outside.
She peered out the glass door but didn’t see anything to cause alarm. She unlocked it then slid it open, stepping outside before she realized what clicked in her mind. The candles were burning. She was positive she and Chel had blown out all three. Now, they were burning. Had Chel relit them to mess with Brenna for her disbelief in this whole spell thing? She wouldn’t put it past her best friend.
Something tickled the back of her mind, and she recalled a brief moment earlier when she’d thought she’d seen the flame still burning after she and Chel had gone inside. They’d blown them out. Brenna would swear to it. Chel must have snuck back out when she left and relit them for some reason.
Feeling satisfied with that answer, she reached for the red candle, intending to blow it out again and clean the table, when the heavens opened up, and rain drenched her to the skin in seconds. Brenna looked down at the robe plastered to her body and felt the sodden ropes of hair plastered to her skull worse than when she’d been in the shower. There was nothing to do but throw her head back and laugh.
She opened her arms wide and just let the rain wash over her. She stepped off the patio into the cool, slick grass and turned in a slow circle. It was actually pretty warm for October, and the water felt good on her skin. The combination of the rain and the slight breeze felt like a lover’s caress over her body. Her nipples swelled and tingled, and her pussy ached with the need to be filled.
This was what she loved about living so far out in the country with only one way into her property. Privacy. She opened the belt on her robe and slid the silk panels wide before sliding it off her shoulders to land at her feet. She stood naked under the full moon with the water glistening on her skin. And just that quickly, the rain ceased. She blinked wet lashes up at the sky and laughed again as the breeze picked up and seemed to swirl around her. What the hell had been in that wine Chel had bought?
“Jesus Christ.”
Brenna spun around as Scott’s voice echoed through the air and found herself facing the three men who’d filled her thoughts far more often than they should.
“I… What… Are you really here?” she asked.
“We’d have been here sooner if we knew you liked to dance naked in the night,” Kyle said.
“I’m feeling way overdressed,” Travis added and shrugged off his leather jacket.
Brenna looked at them for a moment then shook her head and laughed again. “Fuck that wine is some good stuff. I’m not just chanting spells about you three coming here and having sex with me. Now, I’m hallucinating, too.”
She bent over and retrieved her robe from the ground. Masculine groans filled the air, making her giggle at how realistic it was. She straightened and glanced at them again. They hadn’t moved, not an inch. That’s how she knew they were part of her imagination. If they’d come across her naked, they would have turned their backs like the gentlemen they always were around her. Or they would have fled in the other direction, giving her privacy. These three just stood, watching.
She stepped onto the patio and blinked as she caught sight of the candle flames still burning. Her gaze flicked over her body. She didn’t look wet. She didn’t feel soaked, and her robe was merely damp as if from the moisture left after her shower. Had the rain been an illusion, as well? She shook her head, bent to blow out the candles again and walked inside, sliding shut the door and locking it once more. Coffee. Maybe she should be making coffee.

The Liger’s Mark
Awakening Pride Book Six
By Lacey Thorn

The Avenging Angel…
Gabriel is the man his people need, an avenging angel who brings death to those who torture and massacre shifters. He never planned to take a mate, but once he does, it takes everything he has to walk away. She wears his mark, but for now, that’s all he can give.

A Woman Alone…
Abandoned at birth then shuffled between foster homes, Kenzie knows what it means to be unwanted. Even adoption didn’t make her feel loved when she was booted out at eighteen. She’d expected her mate’s mark would give her a place to belong…and someone to whom she’d belong. It didn’t. She was marked, mated then discarded.

Mine…
The mark awakens things long dormant inside Kenzie and sends her on a journey for answers. She won’t stop until she learns the truth, even if it tears her world apart. She’ll find the ones who left her to stand alone when they should have loved her. She’ll start with her mate.

Excerpt:
The door flew open, and she blinked as she took in the huge liger that padded inside. His mouth opened, teeth flashing as another roar sounded, and the power of it shot straight to her womb. Adrenaline surged through her, and she fought to push her claws out, to free herself.
The scuffle stopped, and both men faced the liger, but they were no match. It was over far too quickly, leaving only corpses on the wooden floor. The liger turned his head toward her, mouth opening, but it wasn’t a roar this time. It was a purr—one she was more than willing to return.
“Release me,” she demanded, but it came out softly, her voice thick with desire.
The liger inhaled, its aqua gaze glowing. She closed her eyes briefly, squeezing her thighs together as lust struck like an electric jolt straight to her clit. She forced herself to look and found a man before her, bigger and more beautiful than she’d ever imagined. She knew he was hers. Finally, she’d found the one person who would never leave her. Something inside her held back the claim she wanted to make. She felt it, like a flutter of her senses, as if the animal she could never reach was beating against a locked door.
“Your name?” she asked, needing it as if it were a lifeline.
“Gabriel.”
Gabriel. It sank deep into her soul, filling places that had been empty for too long.
“My hands,” she said, tugging at her tied wrists until his gaze moved there.
He shredded her bonds easily and before he could pull back she was on him, arms wrapped around him, biting down on his chest, attempting to claim him in a way he couldn’t deny. God help her, some part of her sensed he might try to deny her.
He gritted his teeth, holding back the growl his chest rumbled with as she sucked his skin into her mouth, frustrated with her inability to leave her mark and claim him as any other shifter would.
“You can’t be mine,” he stated, voice rough and deep, but his hands held her close.
“Mine,” she countered, reaching for his hair and pulling his head down for her kiss.
She meshed their lips, pressing and fighting for him to let her inside. Why was he denying her? Denying them? She nipped hard, biting his lip forcefully enough to make him groan, and still he refused to open. She ran her hand down his torso and wrapped her fingers around his rock hard cock. He might be fighting the mating, but his body was primed and ready for her.
He groaned louder as she stroked him, mouth finally falling open, and she flicked her tongue inside. He stiffened against her, his whole body tensing until she feared he might break. Then it was as if his control snapped. She found her back pressed to the mattress once more, but this time her mate was over her, moving between her thighs. His cock nudged her slick folds, lodging at her opening and with a growl, he plunged deep.
“Damn you,” he said with a harsh grunt as she panted and clung to his broad shoulders.
This was what she wanted, what she’d prayed a lifetime to find. Her mate. She wrapped her legs around his waist, holding him against her as he thrust. He had one hand cupped at her hip while the elbow of his other arm rested by her head. His fingers gripped her hair as he rode her. His head was tilted back, lips wide, as if even in taking her he fought against her. Why was he holding back?
“Mine,” she said again and let her teeth find the reddened mark she’d left on him. She sucked at the skin again, and he jerked in response. She bit down, frustrated with her inability to pierce his skin like she craved to.
Another rumble sounded from his chest, and he tugged her hair until her neck was arched toward him. His lips whispered along her flesh, a light caress that had her begging for more.
“Please,” she sighed. Wanting this. Needing this.
“He cut you.” The rumble was dark, erotic, and had her channel clenching around his pistoning cock.
“Do it,” she ordered, though it came out sounding more like begging even to her.
His tongue licked over the wound, tasting her, and she swore fire leaped inside her at the slick caress of his tongue over the spot the knife had scraped. She arched into him, pressing her neck more firmly against his mouth.
“Do it,” she ordered again.
A fiery ache ripped through her womb again, and she finally realized what was happening. The shot. Her body was starting to respond to the shot the Professor had given her. Though it would still be a few days before she went into full heat, she felt the changes the shot was forcing in her body. She undulated, using the grip of her arms and legs to curl up into him. Then she did something she swore she’d never do for any man. She softened, relaxing her neck and whimpering her need to him, submitting to anything he wanted. As if he’d only been waiting for that, he struck, canines sinking deep just where she longed for them.
Her back hit the mattress as he took them both back down, teeth holding her tight as his cock owned her pussy with every hard thrust of his hips. Her whimpers turned to cries of pleasure as her body was flung impossibly high. She felt it, a merging of so much more than their orgasms. Lights flashed in her head and pain resonated, making her cry out. She felt something, a shift inside her and clung to consciousness as he whispered against her skin.
“I can’t have you. Damn you! My life isn’t my own.”

She wanted to claim him. Mine resonated in her mind, in her heart, but blackness pulled her under before her lips could form the word.

Beautiful Dreamer by Lacey Thorn
(Previously released as part of the Seduction at Midnight Boxed Set and book 0.5 in the Knight’s Watch Series)

Two weeks ago, Chase Riley and her best friend were kidnapped, severely beaten and left for dead. Chase was the lone survivor but has been in a coma since she was found. The police, led by her ex-boyfriend, Detective Phillip Wade, still have no idea what happened.

When Phillip gets the call that his sleeping beauty is finally awake, he rushes to her side. There’s just one little problem. Chase doesn’t recall that fateful night, and doctors aren’t certain if she’ll ever remember. The woman before him is nothing like the laughing jokester Phillip once fell for. This woman is quiet, cautious and afraid.

Lines are crossed from the first moment he holds her in his arms and promises everything will be okay. She doesn’t remember their friendly breakup over his inflexible schedule or her uncertainty about marriage and the stress and pressure of being a cop’s wife.

He’s not the only one watching and waiting to see if she’ll remember. There’s someone else with plans to make sure Chase goes back to sleep—permanently.
Excerpt:
Chase spent a restless night in the hospital. Whenever she fell asleep, something always woke her. Sometimes, it was the nurse Phillip had called LaTisha. Other times, it was something else, something she couldn’t place. She’d wake with her heart pounding, hands clenched in the sheets, panting for breath. Each time, Phillip had been there, hovering, trying to make sure she was okay. Something was off about that, too. He was reserved with her, and that scared the hell out of her. Plus, she still didn’t know why she was in the hospital. She’d been ready to demand answers when she’d gotten back from the battery of tests, but as soon as she’d returned to her room and the bed, she’d fallen asleep.
She was incredibly weak. Amazing what lying in a bed sleeping for two weeks did to the body. She was still reeling from the information she’d managed to pull out of Phillip. She’d been in the hospital for weeks in what her doctor called a self-induced coma.
Her nerves were frayed from a morning filled with more tests, and she knew it wouldn’t take much to set her off. Then there was the surprise sitting outside her hospital room door. When the day nurse finally left the room, Chase was done with the interruptions and ready for answers.
“What’s going on?” she demanded as soon as she and Phillip were alone. “I have retrograde amnesia, but I’m not supposed to worry? How? Why? What the hell happened to me? Because I got a good look in the mirror earlier, and I know I didn’t suddenly take up boxing. Why is there a cop in the hallway? Where is Jocelyn? Why haven’t you called her? If she knew I was awake, she’d already be here.”
Phillip sighed wearily and hung his head, hands dangling between his knees where he sat. It killed her to see him so uncertain, to have him treat her with kid gloves as if she were fragile.
“You’re scaring me,” she whispered when he remained silent. Finally, he looked up. For a moment, she swore she saw a flash of fear in his eyes, but she shook it off. That couldn’t be true. Nothing scared Phillip. “Tell me. Please. I need to know.” She groaned in frustration. “What am I not remembering?”

Your latest work in progress Currently working on two projects: His to Bear, the first book in The Holloways and Chasing Sin, the second book in the Knight’s Watch

When did you begin writing and why? I started writing in 2006. It was something I’d been wanting to try for a long time. I turned my love of “B” genre horror movies into  the book His Bare Obsession. It was my first attempt at writing.

What inspires you to write? Everything, absolutely everything.

Are any of your books based on something personal that has happened in your life? Yes, there are snippets of my life in many of the books I’ve written.

Who are some of your favorite authors?  Lori Foster, Anna Zaires, Brynn Paulin, Jory Strong, Lora Leigh, JR Ward, Karen Marie Moning, Julie Garwood, Karen Robards, Linda Howard, and too many more to name them all. I LOVE to read!

Favorite book?  Changes depending on my mood. Currently, it’s Mercury’s War by Lora Leigh
Would you change anything that has happened to you?  Hell, yes! I know that’s not the politically correct answer, lol. Still, there are several events in my life I would love to go back and change. Hindsight and all that, lol.

Can you share some of your WIP?  Sure!

Here’s an excerpt from His to Bear, The Holloways Book One
Copyright @ 2015, Lacey Thorn
Jaeda hit the tree line at a full run, ignoring the increasing cramps in her sides and legs. Safety was her only concern, and she knew her best chances lay in getting to the Holloways before the hunters caught up with her. She knew all about the Holloway brothers and both feared and admired them. She only hoped she wouldn’t be trading one danger for another.
Uncle Emmett was dead.
She shook the thought away, focusing on reaching her destination and the help she hoped to find there. She was close, so damn close she could taste it. A shout behind her gave her a much needed burst of speed and a gentle reminder that she wasn’t there yet.
She’d been awake for close to forty-eight hours, and exhaustion was taking a toll. The hunting party never should have picked up her trail. She’d waited, hidden beneath their very feet while they searched for her. Then she’d stolen away in the night. Somehow, they’d known where she would head and had done their best to block every route to the Holloway land.
She’d hoped to lose the group following her by cutting through the National Park, but they’d proved tenacious. Instead, they’d taken out her back tires, almost making her flip the damn vehicle before she’d regained control. She’d had to ditch the Jeep and go the rest of the way on foot.
They’d hit her with a dart as she’d taken off. Fear had clawed at her until she’d realized it wasn’t to knock her out. It only prevented her from shifting as she’d intended. That’s when it hit her. They were playing with her. They didn’t see her as a threat. She wasn’t sure if it was because she was female or because they didn’t know what she was. Was it possible even the hunters didn’t realize she existed?
Uncle Emmett had kept her secluded, stating over and over again it was the only way to protect her. It wasn’t just the groups of hunters she had to fear. The males of her species would pursue her just as voraciously if they knew she existed. Her uncle had made her promise to head to the Holloways if anything ever happened to him. They were a family that would be able to protect her. They’d keep her, and most likely, press her to mate with one of them. Still, they were the lesser of two evils at the moment.
Her throat burned almost as badly as her legs, but still, she kept going, jumping fallen trees and jagged rocks as she closed in on her destination. Five miles more, maybe less. If memory served, there would be a brief clearing she’d need to cross. She’d be the perfect target then. Nothing to hide behind save some tall grass that would offer little in the way of protection.
She was a few feet away when the sharp crack of a rifle filled the air. Jaeda gave a startled yelp as she waited for the burn of a bullet to pierce through the aches and pains already holding her hostage. Instead, a grunt sounded behind her. Her mind worked as her feet flew. Someone was shooting at the hunters pursuing her. It had to be the Holloways.
Three more cracks of gunfire filled the air as she hit the clearing. She was almost to the trees when a dart struck high on her shoulder. This one was laced with a drug to knock her out. She stumbled then she saw him. He stood just in front of her. His feet were spread wide, hooded gaze glued to her. Not bear. Not Holloway. Still a connection forged between them as she launched herself at him.
She noticed the surprise in his clear blue eyes seconds before he caught her, looping one arm beneath her knees and lifting her high against his chest. She wanted to feel his hair, and she forced her heavy limb to reach out to touch it. It was just as soft as she’d imagined it would be. So deep and dark, it reminded her of the fur of her bear.
“She’s been hit.”
The loud voice was followed by lancing fire as the dart was pulled from her skin. She forced her gaze away from the one holding her and took in the man beside them. He had red hair and fierce green eyes. Shifter, but not bear. She saw kindness there, and she wasn’t afraid. Not until the giant stepped from behind him. It was easy to see the grizzly in the human’s skin. The third man was a Holloway. With one deep inhale, she knew he understood what she was. A shiver racked her as she fought to hold onto consciousness as his face showed disbelief. He stepped toward them.
She flicked her gaze back to her savior. “Help me,” she whispered, desperate to make him understand and agree.
“I’ve got you,” he said, dipping his head so he could speak closer to her ear. “You’re safe now.”
She tried to shake her head, but nothing cooperated. It was just a matter of time before she passed out.
“Don’t let them take me,” she begged.
“I won’t.” His voice was deep, husky and sent shivers of desire skating along her skin. “The hunters won’t get you. I promise.”
She managed to give her head a jerk.
“What?” He bent closer, lifting her so her lips brushed his ear.
“Don’t let them take me,” she said again. “Holloways.”
He pulled back, confusion in his eyes.
“They won’t hurt you,” he vowed.
“You,” she whispered, eyes drooping.
“What are you trying to say?” he asked quietly.
“Give her to me, Holt.” It was the Holloway, stepping to them and reaching to take her.
Jaeda gave a soft cry, more of a whimper, as she tried to curl into Holt’s chest. Holt. She liked his name.
“I’ve got her, Koby,” Holt stated, turning away and heading into the trees.
“You don’t understand,” Koby Holloway argued.
“Holt,” she forced out his name. His gaze dropped once more to hers. “Protect me.”
She didn’t catch his reply, only felt the strength in his arms as he held her. His scent offered her a sense of security she didn’t question. She felt the truth in the animal inside her. This man, Holt, was hers. She had no doubt he would protect her as fiercely as she would him.

What’s the hardest part of writing? Finding the perfect beginning. Once the story starts flowing, I’m good.

Do you have any advice for other authors? Write. Don’t think about it. Don’t plan it. Just put your butt in the seat and do it. Another word of advice is to keep writing, don’t go back and edit until the story is finished. Otherwise, you’ll be editing constantly and not writing, lol. So sit and write.

Do you have any other hobbies? I’m a former fitness instructor who has gone to hell, lol. I still love to workout but don’t get to the gym as often as I should (and it shows). I love movies, especially horror movies. I love to travel and prefer road trips to flying.

Favorite TV show and song? This also changes, lol. Current show would be The Walking Dead, though it’s off until October. Favorite song? Depends on my mood. I listen to anything and everything. At the moment I’m more into One Republic and Imagine Dragons. When I run though, I usually listen to Eminem.
