Heather Lyons The Hidden Library Blog Tour

ABOUT THE HIDDEN LIBRARY:

Sometimes, the rabbit hole is deeper than expected . . .

Alice Reeve and Finn Van Brunt have tumbled into a life of secrets. Some secrets they share, such as their employment by the clandestine organization known as The Collectors’ Society. Other secrets they carry within them, fighting to keep buried the things that could change everything they think they know.

On the hunt for an elusive villain who is hell-bent on destroying legacies, Alice, Finn, and the rest of the Society are desperate to unravel the mysteries surrounding them. But the farther they spiral down this rabbit hole, the deeper they fall into secrets that will test their loyalties and pit them against enemies both new and old.

Secrets, they come to find, can reveal the deadliest of truths.

The review I did on book one of this series, The Collectors Society the first thing I wrote was about how beautiful the cover was. Same goes for this cover. This cover is just gorgeous. It goes great with the storyline.

This book begins right where the other left off. If you have not read that book yet, you really need to. Alice is still kick ass and Finn is still hot. I love the way the Heather Lyons writes. I thought I was prepared to read this, I mean I hadn't finished The Collectors Society that long ago, but still it captivated me. I was once again thrown into this magical world, plucked from my reality. It was fantastical.

I don't want to give anything away. Let me just say that this author's mind is one that created a stunning world, that makes me question her sanity. Trust me this is not a bad thing, on the contrary it is wonderful. She was able to capture great literary characters and breathe new life into them. Life that has me wondering what will happen next. Did I need sleep? Well I did but, I couldn't stop reading so that had to wait. Shower? Ummm well lets just say its a good thing that you were not around while I was reading this.

When I thought the book was going to go one way, it took an unexpected turn. I love the fact that the author kept me on my toes. The twists just kept coming, and Tom Sawyer....seriously!?

All I can say is that Heather Lyons has done an extraordinary job in bringing these characters to life. Riveting and unexpected, it had me hooked from page one. If you are looking for a series that will keep you on your toes and your head spinning than this is the series for you. If you love classic books and characters this is the series for you. If you love expoloring new worlds then this is the series for you. I could keep going because this series has it all.

There is romance and adventure. I love Finn and Alice. Together they make a great couple, one I would have never thought about together until Heather wrote this book and now they are my OTP!

Don’t miss the first book in this series, THE COLLECTORS’ SOCIETY!

Synopsis
Emery No matter how hard I try, I never seem to be able to escape my family’s world. Their madness controls my life, just like insanity consumes my mind. Sometimes it’s hard to tell what’s real. Sometimes it’s hard to tell who I really am. The person everyone sees? Or the one I keep trapped inside? I wonder which person Ryler sees. Just like I wonder who I can trust. Wonder. Wonder. Wonder. I wonder too much. I wish I could just find a way to escape it all and finally be free.
Ryler I live a double life and sometimes I hate myself for it. Watching Emery fall apart—pretending I don’t care—is killing me inside. I want to tell her the truth, but I also want a new life. Want. Want. Want. I want too much. Sometimes it’s hard to tell what I really desire. I wish I could be free from the confusion, free from this life.

Excerpt
“If you want to dance, dance. There’s no judgment at these things, which makes them pretty awesome.” She smiles, and then threads her fingers through mine. “Okay, let’s dance, then.” I don’t bother mentioning that dancing can be extremely sexy when done under the right circumstances—circumstances that usually include alcohol and sexual tension. At first, Emery is cautious, keeping her distance from me as she rocks her hips to the music. I move with her. I’ve never really been into dancing, but I can rock out to a little garage rock any day. The longer the song goes on, the more into it she gets, until she finally spins around and presses her back against my chest. That’s when the two of us decide to start playing a dangerous game of Want But Can’t Have. A very, very dangerous game that is really fucking tortuous to play yet impossible to give up. Emery starts grinding her hips to the sultry beat of the song. With each movement, her ass brushes against my cock, making me go rock hard. I grip the curves of her hips and my hands unnecessarily slip underneath the bottom of her shirt. My fingers delve into her soft flesh, and I bite back a moan. Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve forgotten just how soft her skin is, how amazing she smells, how incredible she feels against me. She shivers from my touch and presses closer, rolling her hips and driving my body absolutely mad. She repeats the movement over and over again, until finally, I damn near lose my mind. Gripping her waist, I spin her around to face me. “I thought you didn’t know how to dance?” Playlist

Review of The Collectors Society by Heather Lyons

From the author of the Fate series and The Deep End of the Sea comes a fantastical romantic adventure that has Alice tumbling down the strangest rabbit hole yet.

After years in Wonderland, Alice has returned to England as an adult, desperate to reclaim sanity and control over her life. An enigmatic gentleman with an intriguing job offer too tempting to resist changes her plans for a calm existence, though. Soon, she’s whisked to New York and initiated into the Collectors’ Society, a secret organization whose members confirm that famous stories are anything but straightforward and that what she knows about the world is only a fraction of the truth.

It’s there she discovers villains are afoot—ones who want to shelve the lives of countless beings. Assigned to work with the mysterious and alluring Finn, Alice and the rest of the Collectors’ Society race against a doomsday clock in order to prevent further destruction . . . but will they make it before all their endings are erased?

*This is the first book in the Collectors' Society series.

First off the cover! The cover is simply amazing. I love the way it looks and the colors, so vibrant and alive.

This book had me captivated from the first chapter. As it continued I was intrigued. To find out this is not a retelling of Alice in Wonderland rather this is Alice's story of what happened AFTER it.

The premise is beyond words. I have never read anything like this. The fact that the author also brought to life many characters from beloved classics was exhilarating. I mean who thinks of stuff like this? How did she come up with this wonderful idea?

Lets talk characters. Ok seriously this author is a genius. I am a huge lover of classics. When I saw characters from those book, and okay many of them werent original characters but great granddaughters, grandsons, neices ect it was still amazing to see.

Huckleberry Finn or Finn...

Can this guy be anymore perfect? Not the same Huck I read about in High School and I am okay with that. This guy, Finn, OH LAWD! I mean can he be anymore sexy, confident, alluring, just perfect? Amazing he is simply the most amazing male lead character I have read about in a while and it is simply refreshing. Oh and when they back into Wonderland and he has to see what was left behind, that could have broken some but Finn? nope not Finn.

Alice. Alright Alice WHAT THE HELL!!!???
This woman is definitely not the one I read about when I was little. She is kick ass, smart, funny, vulnerable and made me love her all over again. The author had a way of making Alice this woman who can handle her own as well as making her wide eyed and new to the world, a sort of innocence. I made me root for her. My heart broke for her when she had to return to Wonderland. To see what happened and why she left, oooh man I need that story!

Dr. Frankenstein. I don't know if any of you know this but Frankenstein is my FAVORITE classic. Like seriously I love this book. To see Dr. Frankenstein in this book was incredible. No, he is not the original but damn just reading about him again made me miss my crazy friend.

The plot was unlike anything that I had ever read. That made me fall even harder for this book. Once you start to get the jest of the book it goes rapidly. Too rapidly for my taste. Yes its like 355 pages but seriously it was so good that it went by in a breeze. The writing is no complicated and I followed along with no issues.

Overall this book was enthralling, had me at times at the edge of my seat. I wanted and needed more from this book so I am excited for the next one.

Heather Lyon's book The Collectors Society is riveting, unique and had me staying up late because I needed to see what was going to happen next. The romance aspect had me in awe. To see these two characters come together in spite of the heart ache was the best.

Excerpt: We are about to open the conference room door and enter the hallway when he stops. He turns to me, his lovely eyes achingly sincere. “I want to take you on a date when all of this craziness is over. A real one. We’ve kind of gone about this all backwards, haven’t we?” One corner of my mouth lifts up. “Are you saying you’d like to court me?” There is no playfulness to his face, no quirk to his own lips. My heart flutters at his seriousness. “Yes.” He wants to court me. Too many emotions rush around in a caucus race throughout my body. I have no doubts of Huckleberry Finn Van Brunt’s feelings toward me. I understood them two minutes ago just as well as I did this morning when I woke up and from the night before and from the day in Wonderland where he said, in not so many words, that he was falling in love with me. I told him he was my north star, and meant it. He countered we are binaries. He and I . . . We’ve never said those words, though, not the ones that truly spell out fragile, deep secrets of a heart and soul. Words so easily and yet unfortunately uttered by many, be it to express their appreciation of fried bits of potatoes to sports teams on the television. Words offered so frivolously about a variety of subjects and yet can be the most difficult, most painful, most meaningful, most cherished syllables we gift another person. I have said these words before, to another man. Another man I still love. One I know, in the deepest confines of my heart, that I will love until the last breath escapes my body. A man who courted me in secret and then publicly in the face of astonishment, disapproval, confusion, and, in the end, prophesies. I have willingly given the man in front of me my heart, though, whether he knows it or not. He now holds it in his hands, and while I pray he is my future, there is still a part of me that bucks in conflicted confusion and delight by this declaration of his. He wants to court me. And yet, as sweet and romantic as such a gesture might be, I require no such formalities. My affections for Finn Van Brunt have already solidified into something real and wonderful and meaningful. The Fates are cackling their bony asses off... It's been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they've given him have been violent and bloody--which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He's got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet. Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy's deal might be, but it's a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her. But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all. Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.

The Raven by Sylvain Reynard Review

The Raven
By: Sylvain Reynard
Release Date: February 3, 2015

Raven Wood spends her days at Florence's Uffizi gallery restoring Renaissance art. But an innocent walk home after an evening with friends changes her life forever. When she intervenes in the senseless beating of a homeless man, his attackers turn on her, dragging her into an alley. Raven is only semiconscious when their assault is interrupted by a cacophony of growls followed by her attackers' screams. Mercifully, she blacks out, but not before catching a glimpse of a shadowy figure who whispers to her . . .

Cassita vulneratus.

When Raven awakes, she is inexplicably changed. Upon returning to the Uffizi, no one recognizes her. More disturbingly, she discovers that she's been absent an entire week. With no recollection of her disappearance, Raven learns that her absence coincides with one of the largest robberies in Uffizi history--the theft of a set of priceless Botticelli illustrations. When the police identify her as their prime suspect, Raven is desperate to clear her name. She seeks out one of Florence's wealthiest and most elusive men in an attempt to uncover the truth. Their encounter leads Raven to a dark underworld whose inhabitants kill to keep their secrets . . .

Sylvain Reynard has done it again. If you liked Gabriel’s Inferno you are going to love The Raven. It is very well written and had me not wanting to put it down.
You meet the Prince in the book The Prince but you only get a snippet of him in there. You get the full effect in The Raven. This vamp is freaking hot. He is from the old school but he keeps up with his times. He is called the Prince because he is over the city of Florence. He is the go to guy for everything. Now this book can be read without reading The Prince but I would suggest not doing that because you get an insight before actually getting into the book. By the way he has a real name but I will let you read it to find it out.
Raven is a girl who is like every girl we know. She isn’t this little skinny minnie. She is voluptuous in the right parts that the Prince adores. She has a disability and she has every insecurity I think every other woman has about themselves. She is a fighter though. Her life wasn’t full of rainbows.
I am highly recommending this book to read. You will get lost in the story and will start begging the author for the next book.
I am giving this book 5 hearts.

THE RETURN Excerpt:

Shaking my head, I pivoted around and walked down the long hall to my dorm room. As I reached the door, the shiver was at the base of my spine again, dancing its way up until it traveled across my shoulders. My heart turned over heavily and I closed my eyes. Twice in one day.
Oh God.
I’d never felt this more than once in any span of several days. Swallowing hard, I wrapped my fingers around the doorknob, battling the urge to turn and scan the hall, because I knew no one would be there. Dragging in a deep breath, I opened the door and stepped inside the room. My brows flew up, and I forgot about the feeling as I closed the door behind me. Erin was sprawled on the floor, palms pressed down on a mat, her spandex-covered behind jutting up toward the sky. She turned her head, peering at me from under her armpit. Her armpit. “How in the world do you get your neck to bend like that without killing yourself?” I asked. “Skills, yo.” Erin did yoga and meditation religiously, saying it helped merge her yin and yang together or something. She’d once told me she had a hell of a mean streak, and contorting herself into painful-looking positions helped keep “good vibrations” around her. Which was strange, because I’d never seen Erin lose her temper in the two years I’d known her. Erin unfolded herself from some kind of downward dog or upward pony and grinned at me. “Check under the bed.” Curious, I dropped my bag and stepped over her legs. Bending down, I lifted the bedspread and my eyes grew to the size of saucers when I spotted the bottle. I snatched it up and clutched it to my chest as I whipped toward her. “José!” Her grin spread into a smile. “The best boyfriend ever.” THE RETURN Synopsis: The Fates are cackling their bony asses off...
