Guest Post from Juewelz from SMIBookClub

Pieces Of Lies Offical Cover   Book Title: Pieces of Lies Author: Angela Richardson Rating: Reviewer: Juewelz Thank You Sandie for allowing me to be all up in your space today with my review of Pieces of Lies by the talented New Adult, Contemporary Romance author Angela Richardson. Angela released Pieces of Lies at the top of the year back in January. Kat reviewed it for SMIBookClub but it finally came up for its turn for me to read on my LONG TBR list this March. I really wasn't sure what to expect when reading this book. I heard from other SMIBookClub gals that had read this book that it was awesome but to be prepared for a MAJOR cliffhanger, which I HATE! Ok enough about me and onto the good stuff. Reading Pieces of Lies is like watching what I imagine Karen from Vh1 Mob Wives life growing up was like. The main chick Norah AKA Lenoah AKA Princess of New York City is a college senior who transferred schools her senior year. Hmm thats a major red flag, not just to me the reader but the fellow
noseycharacters in the book. Norah is VERY good at keeping things on the hush so her secrets, Pieces of (her) Lies, aren't even touched on until the last 25% of the book.
"You don't understand guys Norah, we don't always think, we just do. It's hard for us to focus clearly sometimes and we end up just acting on impulse, which isn't always a smart thing."- Joshua
Norah, that lucky girl has not one , not two BUT THREE MEN that want her love (cookie, hehe) . Joshua the best friend, poor guy I don't know if he permantley friend zoned himself or if it's just not in the cards for them. He is really sweet and good to Norah, ride or die etc.. BUT he also F's up MAJOR in the begining of the book which causes Norah to question his loyalty. Is he really her BFF or is he using her influence for his future goals and aspirations... POL collage Clint, woa.. this character I really enjoyed. Clint is that sexy jock that we love to hate! You love him because he looks like he is a model for Abercombie & Fitch. But you hate him because he walks around with a stick up his
ass. Clint turns out to be everything that we would want in our imaginary Abercombie boyfriend ,he is a jock, popular and sexy but he is into you! Plain ole you..
" I'm everything I want to be when I'm with you. It feels natural, it feels right. I've been wandering lost in the dark until I met you." - Clint
Oh and another note.. umm Norah and Clint have some amazing "first times" together . I am little jealous all the fictional "first" defintly do not depict that awkward night most of us had lol. Samuel aka Gotti jr. I am really not sure how I exactly feel about Samuel. Maybe it is my own PTSD that has me not really checking for him. But Samuel is that EX that is a pain in your
ass. Like dude lose my number.. You shared a great love and unfortunatley it ended. There isn't a valid reason on WHY but you gotta take Usher's advice and "let it burn. " Samuel refuses to do that and in the process causes confusion for Norah and put his life and her's in danger in the process.
"Oh Samuel. First my showing, then the flowers, the ball and now this. Samuel was fighting for me. He really thought he had found a way for us to be together in the confines of the Lappell."- Norah
There is so much that happens in this book at the last 25-30%. I originally was going to give it an 3 kiss rating but after all that mystery, speed racing, man hunt and gun slaying that the book ended with. It quickly moved it's way up to a 4 kiss rating! I am so excited for book 2 Pieces of Truth which is set to release early May. Angela will be re writing a couple of our favorite scenes from the male's POV. They will be featured on SMIBookClub.com April 4! So make sure you come on over to the blog to check it out and enter in to win Pieces of Truth eBook copies.

Click the door and he is ALL yours, ladies!
Drum roll please....

Door Number One
This man has ALL the right moves and let's just say he can "bang it out" with the best of 'em.
He has a strong passion for photography and loves a girl who knows her way around the kitchen.
Apple pie and zucchini bread are two of his favorites.
He also has a soft spot for nighties...a pink nightie would quite possibly drive him wild.
This man is beautiful from head-to-toe. Jet black hair, piercing blue eyes, and strong jaw.
And his body? Yeah, that's pretty "banging" too. Let's just say there's definitely a six-pack involved.
He's funny, charming, and his personality will make you swoon!

Door Number Two
The guy behind door number two is quite the charmer.
His slight British accent would make any girl fall to her knees.
He is sinfully sexy and his tattoos just add to his bad-boy appeal.
He spends most of his nights performing with his band in front of thousands of screaming fans.
He knows all the right moves on and off the dance floor. Catch my drift?
Although, he tends to put off the "I don't care" attitude he's actually a sweet, romantic deep-down.
This man will organize romantic candlelit dinners on-top  the Eiffel Tour while professing his undying love for you.
I'm telling ya ladies,  the guy behind door #2 is beautiful, sexy, and talented in several ways!

Door Number three
The guy behind door number three is sexy, confident, handsome AND rich!
His Scottish accent has ladies vying for his attention.
He's an intelligent business man who looks down-right sinful in a suit and tie.
He might be a little controlling and overprotective, but it's just the way he is with the people  he loves the most.
Ladies, just imagine what that controlling nature could bring out in the bedroom!
This man's accent and charming personality will make you melt, while his body will have you drooling.

WHAT BEAUTIFUL MEN ARE STANDING BEHIND THOSE THREE DOORS?

Special Guest Mason from Metamorphosis

So it appears that the door to My Place has been unlocked and I’ve been released into the general public for a short time. While trying to decide what to do with my time out and about, I thought about telling you how well Jobu’s Rum is doing and that we have some exciting announcements coming up soon, but I was afraid I’d slip and tell you something I wasn’t supposed to. Then I thought I could talk about the inspiration for all of my tattoos and show you a picture of my latest one, but that of course turned my thoughts to my Angel. And that’s when I realized that most of you would like another short teaser from Ambrosia that shows you just how much I fucking love that girl. She has saved me in ways that she has no idea about. I know she’s got baggage too, but the time I get to be with her is completely worth dealing with any of that other bull shit. No matter what she does, she’ll always be perfect to me.

AMBROSIA TEASER #2.5 SCARLETT ~ You Still Love Me ~ Tyrone Wells
He slowly made his way up my body, kissing and biting every so often, until we were eye-to-eye. I was amazed at his strong, handsome features. I loved the edginess that his tattoos and piercings added. But mostly, I was in awe of his ability to love and forgive. As if he could read my mind, he gently kissed me. “I do love you, Angel. I never stopped.” I closed my eyes and kissed him back, trying to hide the tears that welled up in my eyes. I didn’t deserve someone as wonderful as my Mase. He knew that I couldn’t give him my entire heart, but he took me anyway. I couldn’t mess this up, I wouldn’t get another chance.

Review of The Perpetual Quest blog tour and giveaway

Blurb:
Tourists flock to Jefferson Point for the antique shops and riverboat tours. Everyone knows everyone and secrets are impossible to keep. Or so it seems...

Dr. Ryan Harper's brutal slaying stuns the picturesque river town. High school football star, Prom King, and on his way to finishing his residency, Ryan was their golden child.
After a two-year struggle to care for their young son alone, his widow, Nicole, reluctantly returns to Jefferson Point. Her homecoming reopens old wounds, as Ryan's family and friends struggle to adapt to life without his dynamic presence.
The last person Nicole expects to reconnect with is Aaron Foster, Ryan’s best man and reluctant keeper of his secrets.
With opinions circulating on Nicole’s post-Ryan existence, she must maneuver the rapids of past loves, new expectations, and haunting dreams of her fallen husband.
The Perpetual Quest for the Perfect Life is a frank story of questionable decisions, small town politics, and love after loss.

Excerpt 4: She said NO!
"There you are." He gave her a lopsided grin and advanced toward her. Her head was still spinning from the scene she’d just witnessed and the hours of drinking on a mostly empty stomach.
"Jason…" Tired of his crap, Nicole backed away. She stopped as she ran into something. Looking over her shoulder, she realized she’d backed up to a tree trunk. Further retreat wasn’t an option.
"Alone at last," Jason slurred. The day of steady liquor consumption was finally catching up to him. She suspected he’d had a couple more shots since she’d left the barn.
"Look. Avery’s not here to watch you hit on me. What do you say we go have some barbeque?" She reached for his arm and he pulled it away, placing it on the tree trunk for support.
"And miss my chance to finally get you alone? No way." Suddenly on high alert, Nic hadn’t expected Jason to actually attempt to seduce her. She’d assumed he’d been caught up in the game, trying to piss Avery off. He pressed his body against hers and she winced at the rough, prickly surface of the tree trunk through her clothes. His face was an inch from hers and she smelled the stench of whiskey on his breath. She considered his aggressiveness from their school days, and something Avery had once told her after she ended their engagement: Jason could be a dangerous drunk.
She opened her mouth to talk him down, and as she stumbled for what to say, he brought his lips down hard on hers. She felt teeth scrape her lip and she could taste her own blood. Panic gripped her and she struggled to push him away, but Jason had always been remarkably strong. He had one hand in her hair and the other fondled her breast. She tried to push him off several times, but it just seemed to get him more aroused. Finally, in desperation, she bit his tongue. He winced and yanked his face away from hers.
"Stop it, Jason! Get off of me."
"Now you’re gonna play hard to get? Come on, Nic. I remember how much you like this." The mouth was on her neck and his hand gripped her hair tighter, as his other hand moved past the button of her jeans.
"No, Jason! I said no." Nicole’s voice was harsh as she batted at his hand. In response, he pulled her hair roughly, bringing tears of pain to her eyes. She cried out and his gaze went from her zipper back to her eyes. His grip on her softened and his eyes looked almost tender.
"Hey … it’s okay to be nervous." He stroked her cheek. "It’s probably been a long time for you … I’ll try to be more gentle."
At that instant, she saw movement in her peripheral vision, as something large sent Jason sprawling to the ground, taking several pieces of her hair with him. Nicole blinked in pain and shock to see Aaron looming over him, his hackles up, ready to fly into a rage.
"She said no." Aaron’s voice was quiet, with a scary quality. Nicole knew that voice and that stance. Aaron was in full battle mode, and if she didn’t intercede, he would pummel Jason to a bloody pulp.
"Come on, Aaron. Let’s go back inside." Nicole’s voice was forcibly calm, as if talking to a wild animal. Jason was on his feet and glaring at Aaron; they were squaring off.

My Take:

Perpetual Quest takes you on a ride that at times leaves you breathless and captivated. I did not know what to think of this book as I had begun to read it. We meet Avery a headstrong independent beautiful woman who takes no bull.

Nicole, is Avery's sister in law, who was left widowed with a baby boy. Ryan who was murdered was Avery brother. Nicole and Avery are very close. She and Nicole have been friends for a very long time. Nicole moves back to Jefferson Point to be closer to be near family and friends.
Then we have Aaron, He was Ryan's best friend. He has always had a crush on Nicole but being that Nicole was with Ryan he never persuade anything.
We are also introduced to Shilah, a man who made me squirm by his description alone. He is a strong man who knows what he wants. He is kind and just awwww.
From the beginning, I was sucked into this story. There is plenty of things that go on in this book and I felt as though I was right in the middle of it all as it unfolded. Secrets are revealed, new romances are formed. Old crushes come together.
I think it was a great story of a mother who will do anything to make her way in a world that has robbed her of her husband, she is determined to make her way.
There were times that I was left in shock as things were revealed.
I really enjoyed that the authors gave us a back story to the characters. It felt as if I was getting to know them and bonded with them. Another unique thing that this story has is the use of so many characters. At first I was a bit leery thinking how can I keep track of everything that is going on, but quickly found that the way this story is written my anxiety over that was for nothing.
Overall it is a great story. The secondary characters were great and pulled in everything nicely. I laughed, I cried, I swooned and was shocked. I love when a book can pull forth so many of my emotions.
I gave this book
4/5 Hearts

Review for Moving Forward By Erika Taylor and giveaway

BLURB:
Jesika Reynolds’ heart was left broken one year ago when her husband died, leaving her and her son alone in this world. Slowly, she started putting the pieces back together of her life. Knowing that she may never open herself up to love again. That was until the day Derek came into the picture.

Why does this gorgeous stranger seem to care so much, so suddenly?

Derek Jordan's charm drew her in with an instant connection, and familiarity that helps her feel at ease. Her heart is falling at his feet, but as their relationship grows, so does a secret from both of their pasts that neither saw coming. One by one, the threads slowly start to unravel.

Can their newly sought love stand up against the secrets that life is unlocking to their pasts? Or can they decide together that moving forward and forgetting the past is the only option for them to find true happiness?

MY THOUGHTS:
Let me also add that Jesika Reynolds is just an awesome lead female character. Lets begin this journey shall we?

When I first began this book I was like OMG this is so sad, we meet Jesika a young widowed mother. Her husband and center of her world has died. I think I was already ready to be like this

while at the very beginning the tears were on the verge, I continued to read because I needed to know what was going to happen next.
Fast forward a year and we find Jesika as a single mother devoted to her son. We also met the man of my dreams, Derek!

Let me explain something to you though because I seriously don't think you are grasping the sexiness and swoonworthiness (<--- if that's not a word it should be) of this guy. Derek is a single father to his daughter Emma. He is a fireman (HOLY HOTNESS) and a drummer in a band.

Both their kids go to the same school, Derek has been crushing on Jesika for a wile but never did anything until a chance encounter at their kids' school. Then its like she couldn't escape him, I'm pretty sure it was fate telling her it was time and with this man!
I will say that yes they so begin dating and I am rooting for them because..

1. She is an amazing mother and deserves to get laid because sometimes BOB is not enough!

"Gah! Why does he have to be so in tune with me? He can probably smell me like I’m a dog in heat. God knows that’s how I feel. Battery operated toys aren’t meant to replace the real deal forever. They’re more like a temporary fix and mine has been used way past its expiration date."
 2. He super hot. He is sensitive and understanding and romantic.

'I will always protect you. I will always put the safety of your heart above everything else.....just know there is no word that could every fully grasp what I feel for you.'
3. They both crack me up.
"I want her to have abso-fucking-lutely no regrets about making like to me. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that’s what we will be making tonight. I can’t stand how people call fucking making love when they don’t even know the person. You cannot call sex making love if you don’t fucking love the person. Hence the word love being used in the phrase. That’s a dead give a way right there. Maybe saying ‘make love to me’, or ‘we made love’ sounds better or makes them feel better about themselves instead of just saying ’yes we fucked. If it was up to me, it’d just be called ‘making fuck’. Seems more appropriate ---Derek

“You know. . .your truck is pretty hot Derek. I love how big and black it is.” --Jesika
Alright so then we get to the
moment! You know where you are like...I'm so happy then BAM! You get the wind knocked out of you and you can not believe that all of this is even happening, yeah that OH SHIT MOMENT!!!

So from this point I was like do I really want to keep reading because thank you Erika Taylor for giving me anxiety. Of course I had to keep reading I am so intwined with these characters that I feel like I would be abandoning them if I put the Kindle down!!

I could totally put myself in Jesika's shoes and though it is hard to loose the person you thought you were meant to be with forever, sometimes that forever is shattered. This book is about finding the strength to learn to love again, to trust another person with your heart, to learn to let go and move forward no matter how hard it is. Nobody ever said life is easy.
/>
Now your probably wondering ok sooooo what happens next?? well duh silly I can't tell you! This is a book that you need to pick up and read for yourself to find out the answer to that.

Oh and I have one more thing to say I love Jesika's best friend Mallory! I could totally be Mallory, I swear its like Ericka was looking at my life and said yes she is my muse for Mallory, ok I am kidding but man this chick is the ultimate best friend. I was laughing so hard at certain points in the book. Mallory was just refreshing and hilarious.
Also Seth, can I have him too? PLEASE??
Seth is Derek's brother and lead singer of the band. You know bad boy type guy that I want to take to my room and have my way with him. Yeah like that!!!
Both of these characters added and enhanced the story for me.
and I can not wait because the next story is theirs and I am going to STALK yes STALK Erika until I get my greedy little hands on it! so just so you know Erika I am coming for you LOL.

You all need to seriously get this scrumptiously delicious book, that will take you on a ride that is worth every bit of the sleepless night you will no doubt endure.

I gave this book
4/5
